Accelerating the Nation's Research Capacity through an EPSCoR Hub
Your Data. Your Progress. Your Next Move.
How the data is coded
Every topic is read two ways at once. A general code says what the topic was about; coded discussion topics say what it advanced. Each topic always carries one general code and up to two coded topics.
One topic, read two ways
“Planning hotel, location, dates for 2026 EPSCoR Summit”→general code Planning·primary coded topic Knowledge Sharing·secondary coded topic Collaborative Networks
General codes
What the topic was about. Six codes, exactly one per topic — the colours in the “Topics over time” chart.
- Communication30
- Relaying information between people and groups — team updates, follow-ups, introductions, check-ins and passing materials along. Mostly internal coordination and relationship maintenance.
- Development54
- Building the pieces themselves — website specifications, the advisory board, the evaluation logic model, the categorization and labeling system.
- Implementation49
- Running and delivering the work — EPSCoR Live support hours, IRB renewals, data-mining workbooks, the conference app.
- Planning82
- Deciding what happens next — dates, locations, agendas and formats for the summit, workshops, website, blogs and digest.
- Recruitment3
- Finding and inviting people — board members, host committee members and summit speakers.
- Upcoming Events26
- What is on the calendar next — scheduled advisory board, collaborative insight and summit meetings.
Coded discussion topics
What the topic advanced. Eight coded discussion topics, up to two per topic — primary (most relevant) and secondary — the bars in the dashboard’s “Coded discussion topics” chart and the rows in its “Coded topics by month” heat-map.
- Knowledge Sharing
- Facilitate sharing of research, data, and promising practices
- Two-way exchange among people (summits, networks)
- Dissemination
- Facilitate dissemination of research, data, and promising practices
- One-way outreach (website, blogs, digest)
- Collaborative Networks
- Foster collaborative networks
- Building connections and partnerships
- Strengthen Research Capacity
- Strengthen research capacity
- Strengthening existing research capacity
- Expand Research Capacity
- Expand research capacity
- Expanding research capacity (distinct from Strengthen)
- Critical Knowledge
- Build critical knowledge
- Building critical knowledge
- Development Support
- Support development
- The people, structures and deliverables that keep the project moving forward. Coded when a topic is about getting project resources in place, not about who shares what with whom.
- Broadening Participation
- Broaden participation
- Broadening participation
A note on "Communication": it is a general code, not a coded topic — so it shows up in the timeline chart and the General code filter, never in the coded-topic bars. Topics carrying it are about the act of relaying information between people and groups: team updates, follow-ups, introductions, check-ins, and passing materials along. They are mostly internal coordination and relationship maintenance, so they usually surface as Development Support or Collaborative Networks. They are not public outreach: one-way outward sharing (website, blog, digest) is coded Dissemination, and two-way exchange is coded Knowledge Sharing.
